About Kari

Hello!
My name is Kari (Kari Jo if you're family).

I was born and raised right here in the Bluegrass State.  I come from a family of crafters, with two grandmothers who were always elbow deep in something beautiful, and a mom who loves to knit.  My grandma could always take something ordinary and turn it into something spectacular with fabric or a paintbrush.  My Nana loved all things sewing and always had multiple projects going at any one time. I think that my love for sewing was born from their passion of making things beautiful.

I started my adult life wanting to be a photographer.  I operated a small, but successful business for several years, and loved working with so many wonderful families, but after so long, I was getting burned out.  I realized that the photography world was saturated with other people who also loved photographing people, and my heart just wasn't in it enough to compete with that.

I was looking for another hobby. Something to spend my spare time on.  I bought my first sewing machine in 2015, and never stopped sewing.  My first quilt was a bit of a mess, but i finished it, and I am still proud of it to this day.

When I showed it to my Nana, the look of pride on her face was unforgettable.   She sent me home that day with armloads of quilt books and fabric.
My collection has grown quite a bit since then, but I always think about my first quilt and how far I have come in just a few short years.
